This Oct. I went on a 10 day trip to Prague, in the Czech Republic and Prague, Hungary. Lots of art inspiration after seeing the Alphonse Mucha Museum in Prague. At home I painted 4 panels using the marionette from the shop next to our hotel in Prague--she arrived safely and uncrushed in her long box on Delta. The Czech apples were delicious and bright green and red--so apples were part of this painting. After seeing a noisy Bohemian Waxwing on top of a gravestone in the Jewish Cemetary he became part of another painting with his wings of yellow and black stripes, with flaming red ends. The trick was to put the Prague buildings in the background and avoid cliches.
More paintings to come!

The St. Honore Boulangerie here makes the same beautiful religieuse green, pink, and yellow cream puff pastries as seen in the Grand Budapest Hotel movie. Yesterday, I paired this with the spring cherry blossoms on the trees here in Portland to do an oil painting. As soon as it dries I'll get a photo up. Tomorrow, I'll start an oil painting and add two small birds with this pastry, cherries, and some cupcakes.
